Who can enter?

Public or private high school students within Cox Communications Hampton Roads service area. This includes the following cities and counties in Virginia: Chesapeake, Virginia Beach, Norfolk, Portsmouth, Hampton, Newport News, Williamsburg, James City County, York County, Gloucester, Poquoson, West Point and New Kent.

All student participants must be enrolled in grades nine through twelve and be between the ages of 14 and 19. Student participants cannot be previous Grand Prize winners in the “Distracted Driving Viral Video Contest.”

When can I submit my video?

Videos may be submitted between 12:01am on Monday, October 3, 2016, and 11:59pm on Sunday, October 30, 2016. No videos will be accepted after 11:59pm on 10/30/16.

How do I submit my video?

You can upload your video by selecting the Upload button found at www.no2dd.com. All fields associated with the online uploading of entries must be completed and answered truthfully. Failure to do so could result in disqualification.

Videos in the appropriate file format and saved on appropriate media (thumb drive, CD, DVD, etc.) can also be submitted No2DistactedDriving Video Contest, c/o Cox Media, 1341 Crossways Blvd., Suite 1168, Chesapeake, VA 23320. All physical entries must be accompanied by a completed entry form, available at here. (hyperlink to pdf). All information requests on the entry form must be completed and answered truthfully. Failure to do so could result in disqualification.

Cox Communications, Hall Automotive, and Geico are not responsible for Internet transmission errors, illegible entries, service outages, delays, busy signals, equipment malfunctions and any other technological difficulties that may prevent transmitting his/her entry. It is recommended that any computers used in the uploading of videos or in the voting process should have cookies enabled in the browser settings.

How many videos can I enter?

The limit is one video per entrant or entrant group. Entrant groups cannot exceed four students.

What type of video are you looking for?

Video entries must address the official topic “Distracted Driving” – this includes anything that takes someone’s sole focus off of driving, i.e., texting while driving, talking on the phone while driving, interacting with vehicle passengers, putting on make-up, etc. Everything else is up to you. Be creative.

Please keep in mind that entries must not, in the sole and unfettered judgment of Cox Communications and Hall Automotive, contain any sexually explicit, disparaging, libelous, or other inappropriate content, language, or nudity.

They must also not contain any act that is considered dangerous, in the sole and unfettered judgment of Cox Communications and Hall Automotive. This includes engaging in texting, or other unsafe activities, while actually operating a moving motor vehicle.

Lastly, entries must not violate any copyrights or trademarks, including music used in the video. Applicant must have consent and credit the music or it must be the applicant’s original music.

Failure to adhere to the above criteria may result in disqualification.

How long can the video be? What format are you looking for?

The file format of all uploaded videos must be .MOV, .MP4 or .WMV. The maximum length of the video is two (2) minutes. The maximum file size of the video submission is 150MB. All videos must be in the English language.

What will happen with my video?

All submitted videos become the property of Cox Communications and Hall Automotive. Any portion of the video, or the entire video, may be used by Cox Communications and Hall Automotive in future marketing campaigns including TV and Radio commercials, and various forms of print advertising. Any portion of the video, or the entire video, may be available for public viewing online or via Cox Communication’s cable system.

How will the winner be selected?

From all valid video entries, a panel of Hall Automotive and Cox Communications judges will choose the top four videos. The public will help decide the winner via online polling and video views. The winner selection will be based on a combination of online video views popularity (25%), online polling popularity (50%), and judges’ input (25%).

There is no limit on the number of times a single user may vote for a particular video either via online polling or by viewing a video. However, votes generated by a script, macro or other automated means will be disqualified.

Cox Communications or Hall Automotive are not responsible for votes not tallied due to Internet transmission errors, service outages, delays, busy signals, equipment malfunctions and any other technological difficulties or technological limitations that may prevent transmission or proper accounting of votes via online polling and/or video views. It is recommended that any computers used in the uploading of videos or in the voting process should have cookies enabled in the browser settings.

In the event of a tie, the winning video will be drawn at random from among the tied videos.

All decisions of Hall Automotive and Cox Communications with respect to the contest are final.

When does voting for the winner begin?

Voting will begin on or around Monday, November 7, 2016, and conclude at 11:59pm on Sunday, November 27, 2016.

What is the prize for the winning video?

The individual student or student group whose video wins will receive a $3,500 cash prize and their associated high school will win a $3,500 cash prize.

Prizes will also be awarded for the second, third, and fourth place videos.
